Things I must keep in perspective...

Reagan will not always dive into the toilet and splash up to her elbows, nor will she climb up on the kitchen table every chance she gets.  The wrestling matches that occur between us at every diaper change will not go on forever.

Killian will not always repeat ten times every night, "I love you, Mom. I love you so much.  Goodnight.  See you in the morning.  I love you, Mom.  Goodnight.  See you in the morning...."
before going to bed.  He won't always be asking for me to get him glasses of water and make him peanut butter sandwiches, even though his younger siblings have begun to do those things for themselves.

Molly will not always pick her nose and then lick her fingers.  UGH.  At least not in public, I suppose.  Nor will she always poke me in the face with her fingers, flashing, "I love you," in sign language.

Liam, ahhh, Liam.  Liam will not always wear his underwear, pants, and shirt backwards. He won't always poke every time we're trying to leave the house or do something.  He won't always spend the day refusing to change out of his pajamas.

They won't always be needy of my help for basic living skills.  I won't have to help them get dressed, wipe bottoms, take baths, brush teeth, get drinks, eat, clean up after, watch my house being systematically (OK, not so systematically, more like chaotically) torn apart.  I won't always have to nurse and tuck into bed.  I wont' always be buried by children elbowing and whining at each other for room on my lap.  I won't always be washing nasty stuff off my walls and floors.
They won't always be clamoring to sleep in our bed.  I won't forever be waking with someone's foot in my face, or shift slightly to find someone immediately roll into the space I just yielded.

They won't always be little.  They won't always be with us.  I'll miss it all, someday.  ;)

Killian

Ten years ago today, on Mother's Day, actually, I became a mama.

I could never have imagined how it would change me.

This morning, to Ben:
Killian: "Am I taller?"
Ben: "Why, yes."
Killian,"I feel taller."

Grandma Begley

Grandma Begley is doing better.  She still has breathing tubes, but she is responsive and communicating.  Apparently, the neurologist didn't get in to see her until yesterday morning.  He changed her meds, and by noon, she was responding.  Hmmm.  She will likely need rehab.  She is very weak.

*Sigh*

I got a dress in the mail today for Jeremy and Marlene's wedding. I haven't decided whether I will wear it for the ceremony or the rehearsal. It is a very simple cocoa brown wrap dress by DNKY. It is well-designed and well-made, in my opinion. However, all that comes to mind when I put it on is, Ba-donk-a-donk.............Donk.

Not one pound since Reagan was born.

Sadness.

Grandmas

Ben's Grandma's results showed that 3 of 33 (or something like that) lymph nodes were involved.  She will have to have chemo.

I haven't heard anything more on Grandma Begley.

Keep on praying.

Change of plans...

Wow, we've done some changing of plans around here.  We've decided that the kids will go back to school in the fall.  We originally wanted them to go to OLC (that's Our Lady of Consolation), but there is a waiting list for second grade, and it does not look as though Liam will get in this year.  So, the boys will go to Meadow Ridge until which time they can both get in at OLC, and then they will go there.  Molly will be heading back to preschool at OLC in the fall, and she can barely wait.

Grandmas

My Grandma Begley (mom's mom) had surgery on Monday for a bypass.  She was originally scheduled for surgery to correct a prolapsed bladder, so they did a stress test on Friday and decided to put in a stint.  While they were doing that, she had a massive heart attack.  They thought they were going to lose her.  She came through OK, and they scheduled her for a bypass Monday.  She came through the surgery OK, but has still not come out of the anesthesia.  The doctors tried to take out the breathing tube, but she stopped breathing, so they put it back in. They say this happens sometimes, and she could wake up at any time.

Ben's Grandma Hanley had surgery on Friday for colon cancer.  She is recovering well, but has not yet received the results of her surgery.  She did say that her back, which has been in constant pain, was feeling better.  The doctors told her that sometimes pain from the colon can be transferred to the back.  So, hopefully, her recovery will be full and she will feel better than she has in a long time.

Prayers are needed for both of these wonderful women.
